Jewelry Care
Properly care for your jewelry to ensure long-lasting luster. Clean your jewelry with a soft jewelry polish cloth when it starts to appear dull. Do not use ultrasonic cleansers or liquid jewelry cleaners that contain ammonia, alcohol or other abrasives.
Natural body oils, sweat, lotions, perfume, hair spray, chlorine soap, and dirt form a film that will dull your jewelry. Always remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, using a hot tub, using cleaning chemicals, applying hair spray, lotions or makeup. Put your jewelry on after applying make up, hair spray, perfume and lotions.
In warmer climates wipe your jewelry with a clean soft cloth after wearing to wipe away oil and sweat.
Sterling sliver will oxidize over time when not worn. Polish with a jewelry polishing cloth to restore the luster. Store sterling silver in individual air tight storage bags to prevent jewelry from tarnishing.
Rhodium will not tarnish, but should be cleaned occasionally to restore its original luster.
Clean pearls after wearing them as they will pick up your body oils form your skin. Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
Store your jewelry in a compartmentalized jewelry box or in individual air tight storage bags to prevent scratching and tarnishing.
When caring for your jewelry, never use anything but 100% cotton as a polishing cloth since paper, polyester, and coarse fabrics often contain wood fibers or synthetics. These materials may impart fine scratches in the metal, especially on sterling silver.
